Differentiate a function symbolically, with first, second and third derivatives shown as typeset maths, and evaluate them at any point.

Write 2x or 2*x, x^2 for powers, sqrt(x), sin, cos, tan, e^x, ln(x) or log(x) for the natural log. Other letters are treated as constants.
Function
Derivative
fโฒ(x) = 3 * x ^ 2 + 4 * x - 5
Differentiated symbolically and simplified with mathjs. Simplification is automatic, so an equivalent form from your textbook may look different.
Use x for the variable: x^3 + 2x, sin(x)^2, e^(2x), ln(x)/x, sqrt(x^2 + 1). Pick another letter if your variable is t or y.
First, second, or third derivative. Each one is shown, so you also see the steps in between.
Derivatives are typeset as maths and given as plain text to copy. Enter a value to evaluate them there, for the slope of the tangent at that point.
Polynomials, powers and roots, exponentials, logarithms (ln or log for the natural log), and trigonometric, inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions, combined in any way the product, quotient and chain rules cover.
The result is simplified automatically, and there's often more than one correct form: 2ยทsin(x)ยทcos(x) and sin(2x) are the same derivative of sinยฒ(x).
They're treated as constants, so the derivative of aยทxยฒ is 2ยทaยทx. To evaluate at a point, every letter except the variable needs a number.
