The translator uses emojilib's keyword list for about 1,900 emoji. A word matches best when it's the emoji's own name (pizza → 🍕), then when it's part of the name, then when it's a listed keyword. Plurals are matched too: dogs → 🐕.
Keywords are broad: "fire" also describes a firefighter, and "heart" dozens of emoji. The most direct match wins, and common words have a fixed choice, but a word can still pick an emoji you wouldn't. Edit the result as you like.
The characters are the same, but every platform draws its own emoji, so they look different on Apple, Android, and Windows. Newer emoji may show as a box on older devices.
