Cutting itself is exact. Saving as WAV is lossless; saving as MP3 re-encodes, so choose a high setting (VBR V0–V2 or 320 kbps) if the original was MP3.
Cutting in the middle of a sound can leave a click. A fade of 10–50 ms hides it; longer fades suit the start or end of music.
The join gets a 10 ms crossfade automatically so it doesn't click.
